At DetectFakes, we will show you videos. Half are deepfakes, half are not. Share how confident you are that a video is or is not a DeepFake. Our definition of a deepfake is a video where a face has been manipulated by AI to partially distort the face or swap facial features. Look for faces that don’t make sense with respect to the entire video.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell! Some videos may have extra floating faces, extra shapes, or extra letters and symbols. These extra distractions are not considered to be manipulations by AI. They are intended to challenge your ability to guess correctly. Good luck and have fun!
Detect Fakes is an MIT research project. All guesses will be collected for research purposes. All data for research is collected anonymously. For questions, please contact detectfakes@mit.edu. If you are under 18 years old, you need consent from your parents to use Detect Fakes. You can leave this experiment at anytime.
A deepfake is a video where a face has been manipulated by AI to partially distort the face or swap facial features. Please note that some distractions in the single video display (e.g., extra shapes, extra faces) may be applied to the videos. A video with only distractions should not be considered as a deep fake. You can view the video in full screen mode by clicking the full screen expander button on the video.
You must play the video before submitting.
